Donor gives Hillsborough Police 2 new Harley-Davidson motorcycles

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – The Township Police Department has created a new motorcycle unit, with two new Harley Davidson FLHTP motorcycles on order, purchased with a $ 60,000 donation from Dr. Cesar DePaco.

DePaco, a resident of Someset County, is a long-time supporter of law enforcement and has made numerous donations of K-9s and equipment to law enforcement agencies across the country. Hillsborough Township was the first county to receive a donation from Depaco to purchase a K-9 in 2012.

Since then he has donated 144 K-9s, numerous K-9 vehicles and equipment to law enforcement agencies across the country, including Hillsborough.

Hillsborough Police is the first department to receive a donation from DePaco for the purchase of motorcycles.

“The generosity and support that Dr. DePaco and his family have shown to the Hillsborough Police Service over the years is overwhelming and truly appreciated, especially in these unprecedented times. We appreciate his friendship and continued support, ”said Police Chief Michael McMahon.

As always, the Township of Hillsborough is very grateful for the continued support of Dr. DePaco and his family. We look forward to having our new motorcycle unit as part of our community policing. Added Mayor Shawn Lipani.

The motorcycles will be fully equipped with emergency lighting and equipment for police use. “We are delighted to start this new unit which will be a major contribution to many community policing initiatives in the future,” added McMahon.

The department initially selected Detective Christopher Giraldi and Patroller Thomas Gurba for the motorcycle unit. McMahon describes them as highly skilled and experienced runners.

Both recently graduated and graduated from an automotive police college in order to hone their skills for the new venture, according to the chief.

“Everyone has excelled in the program and are excited to engage the Hillsborough community in their new roles later this summer,” said McMahon.
