Hawkeye is teasing Kingpin’s appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the Disney + show has already confirmed just how powerful he will be.
Warning: SPOILERS for Hawk Eye episode 3.
Hawk Eye teases Kingpin’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the Disney + show has already confirmed just how powerful the character will be. Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) just wanted to spend the Christmas season with his kids in New York City in Hawk Eye. However, after Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) clashes with criminals while wearing Hawkeye’s former Ronin outfit, Barton cancels her vacation plans. Not wanting Bishop to suffer for his past transgressions, Barton tries to convince his former enemies, the Tracksuit Mafia, that the MCU’s new arrows hero has nothing to do with Ronin. But it’s easier said than done.
In Hawk Eye Episode 3, the series humanizes the tracksuit mafia by featuring Maya Lopez by Alaqua Cox. The deaf character is a skillful fighter and can exactly mimic the movements of others, which becomes an asset as a mob boss in tracksuit. However, she also has a dark history with Hawkeye’s Ronin. After Thanos (Josh Brolin) ‘s deadly finger snap, Ronin embarked on a villainous killing spree, and during his tirade, he killed Lopez’s father. She witnessed the attack and is now ready for revenge.
In addition to presenting Lopez to the public, Hawk Eye Episode 3 also teases Kingpin’s power. During the episode, Hawkeye mentions that there is someone above Lopez in the Tracksuit Mafia hierarchy, and a moment earlier in the episode teases the character. In a flashback to Lopez’s childhood, his father tells him that his “unclewill take her home from her martial arts practice. The episode doesn’t reveal the mysterious uncle’s face, but his build, clothes, and laughter are reminiscent of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk / Kingpin. of that, previous trailers show Bishop and Barton will assume a “Avengers level“threat in Hawk Eye. With that in mind, it looks like Kingpin could be more powerful than ever.
With all the signs that Kingpin is the show’s big bad, he’s probably the “Avengers level“Threat in question. Netflix is canceled daredevil has previously introduced D’Onofrio’s Kingpin to the public, showing him as a powerful villain who wants to control New York City no matter what the cost. This often meant disagreeing with Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) Daredevil. However, it looks like the MCU is rolling out an improved version of Wilson Fisk. The character may become a “Avengers level“threat in Hawk Eye, it is clear that the pivot of the MCU will put its daredevil antics to shame.
Loosely teasing future characters is nothing new to Marvel’s Disney + shows. For example, Loki teased how powerful Blade (Mahershala Ali) would be in the Marvel movies, with Owen Wilson’s Mobius mentioning that vampires are among the most powerful creatures in the MCU. Hawk Eye does the same with Kingpin. When it comes to the character’s strengths, the show has him set up perfectly. By mentioning that there is a character above Lopez in the organization and saying that Bishop and Barton are dealing with a “Avengers levelthreat, the MCU teases that Kingpin will be immensely powerful without ever explaining it.
