Toy registration deadline for St. Pete’s Christmas toy store is approaching

Bicycles, books and games have already been prepared for the kids who made the “nice” list during a stressful year.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla .– As shipping container backlogs drive up prices, some families are more affected than others.

Many households in our area are still recovering from other financial woes caused by the pandemic, and this holiday season may seem different to them.

But, maybe not if they start planning ahead now.

“Let’s take this burden off your shoulders,” said Karen Gleich of the Christmas toy store in St. Petersburg. “We will make sure your child has a merry Christmas. “

“We exist so that no child is without Christmas.” This is the motto painted in mistletoe green outside the store.

They’ve made sure that St. Nick doesn’t ignore families in our area for their 100 years of service, and 2021 is no different.

“We have packed enough toys to be ready to serve all families in need,” said Gleich.

As long as their parents get them registered this weekend pre-prepared bikes, books, puzzles and games are available for the little ones who made the “nice” list during an incredibly stressful year.

“It was a tough year for them with school and the masks,” Gleich said. “Seeing their parents struggle, we want them to be happy. “

She is right, parents continue to struggle financially under the weight of the pandemic.

the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities recently reported that more than one in five renters living with children have not caught up on their rent.

That’s why the elves at this shop are trying to let parents know that they can already sign up for a Christmas miracle before the Thanksgiving turkey is cut.

“Parents will swallow their pride and do whatever it takes to make their children have a great Christmas, and that’s what we want,” said Gleich. ” We will help you. “

If you need help this year picking up toys at the Christmas toy store, this Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the LAST registration day to register your child.

These books and toys will be distributed in December.
