Toy Shop begins accepting donations for clearance sales | Community

Duncan’s Toy Store has registered and is ready to accept donations for future sales.

The toy store will be open from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at 931 W. Willow for community members to drop off items.

Kim Davis, executive director, said she took a few weeks off, but the toy store team will be back to accept more items.

“We accept everything except food as long as it’s in good working order,” she said. “We will be spending the next two months accepting donations and setting up the warehouse for our next sale from September 29 to October 1.”

When the toy store holds jumble sales, it can take those funds and buy toys for children in the community each year.

Davis said the community has been very supportive of Duncan’s Toy Store when it comes to these dig sales and that aside from the private donations they receive, much of their funding comes from the sales they rack up.

Each year, Toy Shop of Duncan is known to comfortably bring Christmas to over 1,200 children in Duncan thanks to an all-volunteer staff, totaling nearly 150 people, plus a committee overseeing the program and donations.

Davis said each child would receive about $60 to $75 in toys.

According to Davis, the toy store’s next fundraiser will be the fall clearance sale.

Davis said they would be making some changes this year and adding a Thursday night to the lineup.

For the fall sale, the toy store will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 29; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1

“This will be our last sale of the year,” she said. “After this sale, we will move into preparing for the holiday season with the launch of listings in November.”

Donations can be mailed to Duncan’s Toy Store at PO Box 206 Duncan, Oklahoma, 73534. For more information on volunteering or donating items, call 580-255-9625 or visit Duncan Toy Shop online at
