Two dead in motorcycle crash south of Junction City


JUNCTION CITY, Ore. – Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash discovered Friday morning on River Road, southeast of Junction City.

Authorities said the crash was discovered around 6 a.m. when a resident came out to check his mail. The motorcycle and the bodies of the driver and passenger were found in a nearby field on the west side of the highway.

This happened in the rural town of Junction, south of Hayes Lane and north of Shadow Hills Country Club.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash and will be at the scene for a few more hours. Both lanes of River Road are open, but one lane may be closed when authorities remove the bodies and the motorcycle.

The names of the two deceased are withheld while family members are informed.

For the moment, the cause of the accident is not known. No other vehicle appears to have been involved. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 541-682-4150.
